What Is Hair System Knotting? Why It Matters for Natural Looks
Compartir
What is a knotting/ventilation process, and why does it matter so much for how natural a hair system looks? An explanation for curious buyers.
What Is Knotting?
Individual hair strands are hand-tied (knotted) into the lace or skin base, one strand or small group at a time, mimicking how hair naturally grows from a follicle.
Single Knots vs Double Knots
- Single knots: One strand per knot, most natural-looking but less durable
- Double knots: Two strands per knot, more durable but can appear slightly less natural up close
Why This Matters for Realism
The knotting pattern and density directly determine how convincingly the hairline blends with skin. Poor knotting is one of the most common reasons budget systems look artificial.
Bleached Knots
Many quality systems bleach the knots at the hairline to reduce visibility, since dark knots against light skin can create a subtle shadow effect that gives away the system.
What This Means When Buying
Ask your supplier about knotting type and whether knots are bleached, especially for the front hairline area where scrutiny is highest.
